AMAZON
PRODUCTION DESIGN
For the year I worked at Amazon, I was part of their in-house graphics production team. I received requests from marketing teams focused on many of Amazon's categories to create graphics that appeared on their website across all platforms - desktop, tablet, mobile, and email. I specialized in graphics for Luxury Beauty, Wedding Registry, Consumables, and Softlines (Fashion) as category lead.

Amazon’s bustling online business hosts almost any retail category you can think of. When I worked there, they had an arsenal of designers (including me) creating banner graphics for every single category of products they sold.
Our team received requests via an internal ticketing system. Marketing managers for any category could request any number of graphics (asks ranged anywhere from one asset to 50) for a specific product (or many). If within the categories I worked on, the ticket would be assigned to me. Amazon has very specific brand guidelines, as well as its own wiki site that houses brand guidelines for every vertical within the company, that I and my teammates had to follow.
Everything had to be QA’d for accuracy, composition, and overall appearance by category leads. After showing my manager I had my sections mastered, I eventually became category lead for Amazon Fashion ads. This meant I was responsible for training newer designers on the brand guidelines and nuances of my categories, and checking their work.
My team was very collaborative, and we all leaned on each other when loads were heavier in certain groups. Because of this, I had the opportunity to train on multiple categories besides my own, which made me a stronger designer that could work on any category. My manager had an incredible eye for detail, and I learned that skill from her and pride myself in my own “eagle eyes.” My role as category lead taught me responsibility with delegating tasks and managing other designers.
